Democratie

Democracy is a political system in which power belongs to the people, who exercise it either directly (referendum) or through elected representatives (representative democracy). In France, democracy is founded on universal suffrage, political pluralism, freedom of expression, and respect for fundamental rights. Citizens participate in democratic life by voting in elections, joining political parties or associations, and engaging in public debate. Democracy also implies respect for the opposition and the rule of law.
